| SOS Toons are the toons locked in the cage at the VP's office. Your job was to save that toon, with the help of your Toon comrades. You did it! But, now what? |
 |

Above, see the SOS Toon page in my schtickerbook. Before you VP, your book shows 8 of the "Disney's Toontown Online" cards you see on the lower right. As you defeat the VP, your book slowly fills. All of these different cards have a purpose of their own and can save you in a pinch. Careful, though! You can only hold 8 different cards! As shown above, you can hold more than one of a type, but only 8 types total. Keep this in mind as you start to accumulate more SOS Toons.

These are the Restock SOS cards. The Toon you choose will fill your gag bag to the brim, up to 80, with the chosen gag. Be careful when you use a restock card. If you are in an area where there are restock barrels (mint, DA, factory), you and your team won't be able to restock. These cards are great in a bind, such as you're on the last floor of a building and you've run out of gags. Most of the restock cards I receive are used to help friends "gag camp" a certain gag track. The choice is yours!
The above three cards are special. These SOS Toons have the power to make the cogs miss toons for one round! When would you use this? When there is a small toon in a battle who wouldn't survive the attack coming if the gags were to miss. Or, in general, any time you, the cardholder, know the gags chosen aren't enough to defeat the cogs and you can't help it happen. My large toons use these cards to stall for time while waiting on an invasion. The great thing about these cards, unlike the gag cards, is they are guaranteed to work exactly like planned. The cogs will miss you for one round. The SOS Toon will sprinkle pixie dust on the cogs, making them ... laugh!
These three cards are also special. These SOS Toons have the power to ensure your Toons' gags hit for one round! When would you use this? Again, if there is a small toon in your battle who wouldn't survive the attack coming if lure were to miss. You could use it for anything you want to guarantee will hit, but lure is the most popular. The SOS Toon will sprinkle the pixie dust on the Toons, making them laugh.
Toonup cards are great in a pinch when you are alone and need some fast laff. They are also good as backup when a toon doesn't have Toonup, or the Toonup gags are lower than the damage being taken. Madam Chuckle will give 40 laff points, split evenly among all the toons in battle. Daffy gives 100 and Flippy gives 150. Flippy, in my opinion, is the most wanted card, and also the most rare. All three of these SOS Toons will use the juggling cubes to toon you up.
| Can destroy level 5 cogs with lure |
Can destroy level 6 cogs with lure |
Can destroy level 11 cogs with lure |
The Trap cards work like trap gags, except they affect ALL cogs in the lineup, not just one! A toon throwing down a trap while this card is being used will cancel all the trap. Clerk Will's trap doors will do 50 damage per door. Clerk Penny's will do 70, and Clerk Clara's will do 180.
Lure cards are like having an extra lure gag with you. The ducks (Nancy Gas or Stinky Ned) will hold for three rounds, and the bunny (Lil Oldman) will hold for five rounds. Each of them uses the hypno goggles to do their luring. Just like regular lure gags, they can and DO miss.
| Can destroy level 4 cogs on its own |
Can destroy level 5 cogs on its own |
Can destroy level 7 cogs on its own |
The SOS Sound cards are very helpful. E ven the lowest damage card. Barbara Seville will do 40 points damage, which is very close to the damage a maxed fog will do. Sid Sonata's sound *is* as strong as a fog (50 damage), and Moe Zart's sound does a very nice 80 damage. These cards can be used when other toons use sound, and there is a gag bonus when using them with conventional sound. With that being true, SOS Sound can miss when Toon Sound hits, and vice versa.
Can destroy four level 6 cogs on its own |
Can destroy four level 8 cogs on its own |
Can destroy four level 11 cogs on its own |
The SOS Drop cards are very similar to regular drop. They miss often and need a small stun to help their accuracy. Clumsy Ned will drop 60 damage pianos on up to four cogs. This will take out level sixes on its own (if it hits).Franz Neckvein will drop 100 damage pianos, and Barnacle Bessie drops 170 (full-strength) pianos.
Which cards should I save?
That depends on the type of player you are. For examples, here is how I manage my SOS cards. My 128 and 125 dropless toons and my 115 trapless keep only Professor Pete and Melody Wavers in gag ups, as an advance toon can gain gag-up unites from the CFO battles. However, Gag up alls and Gag up Sound are rare unites to receive. They keep no Toons Hit/Cogs Miss. They keep Franz Neckvein, because with three trunks he can take out 11s. They also keep Flippy, Barnacle Bessie, Moe Zart, Lil Oldman and Clerk Clara.
My 125 laff toonupless covets Daffy Don more than she does Clerk Clara. I am grooming her to be my soloing toon (just need the nerve and the toys!). Because of that, I don't keep Clerk Clara, as I'd have to take a lot of damage to use her in a solo battle.
My 25 laff "uber" toon prefers to keep the Toons Hit/Cogs Miss cards. She has a problem making toons understand when she is going to use a card, probably because she's so small. But to be safe, she's keeping all sound and large drop cards as well. Toonup cards really don't do her any good at 25 laff.
40-100 laffers can find the most use for the restock cards. While "gag camping", you can pull a card out and get even more gags to camp! You also have the most "emergencies" where you can use trap/drop cards to save your laff.
I'm going to use a card. How do I communicate to my team?
This can get tricky. If you're using Toons hit or Cogs Miss, saying "Let's use lure!" may confuse a teammate into thinking your SOS card is a lure. I always use the "I think you should choose" SpeedChat, found in the ToonTasks menu, to tell them what I think needs to be done to compliment the card I'm using.
If you are using a restock card, the best thing to say is "Don't wait for me" or "I need more gags". That way they know the cogs need to be covered and your SOS card won't help with that battle.
The gag-specific cards are a breeze. "I'm going to use drop." will get the point across quite nicely. If you are using Bessie, adding a "Save your powerful gags" would be a good idea.
What happens if two or more SOS cards are used in the same turn?
Two of the SAME card will not work. The toon who chose the card first will be the toon to use the card. It makes sense, really.. how can Moe Zart come to the rescue of two different toons at once, blowing two fog horns at 80 damage each?
Two DIFFERENT cards will work, however. One toon using Moe Zart and one using Sid Sonata, both sound cards, will work. One toon using Clerk Penny (trap) and another using Nancy Gas (lure) will work.
Advanced toons, who have made it to the Mr. Hollywood 50 level, no longer need to get merits to defeat the VP. This means once you max your Sell suit, you can VP any time you want! You can fill your SOS page with all of the cards you prefer, and quickly. There are events you can find across the net for "SOS Shopping", where if the card isn't one of a set keep list, the toons leave and return to try again. Do NOT do this with randoms. It is extremely rude to leave toons short-handed just because you don't want the card you are battling for. SOS shopping can be done with friends any time, even if you're only going once. Some toons who are still working merits will leave right before the VP falls off the platform so they can preserve their merits and dance for a better card later. The bottom line is there are options for filling your SOS page quicker with desireable cards. Check our forums for events on this as well.
